Corporate Director of Finance

Gene Sturtz is a seasoned hospitality financial executive with a broad range of multi-unit experience in both hotels and restaurants. Prior to his first controller position, Gene has held various hotel positions from bellman, to busser, to repair & maintenance, front desk and night audit and has insightful knowledge of hotel operations. In 1985, Gene was named controller of the Governor Morris Inn in Morristown NJ with Servico Management where he was the first controller out of 55 properties to achieve a perfect internal audit score.

 

In 1990, Gene wanted to gain experience in operations management and became the front office manager of the 391 room Sheraton Hotel in Parsippany, NJ. managing the front desk, reservations, bell staff, concierge and telephone departments. Realizing his preference for the financial side of the business, Gene joined Accor North America first at the 230 room Lyndhurst Novotel property, then the 474 room Novotel NYC property while maintaining oversight over NJ as well.

 

In 1995 Gene joined a small startup company with interests in restaurants, country clubs, corporate dining and off premise catering. His experience here allowed Gene to excel his career into New York City restaurants working with Stephen Loffredo of Seasoned Management at Zoe, Cena and Jovia Restuarants, Marcus Samuelsson at Aquavit restaurant as well as starting up a quick casual concept, and more recently with TVFN celebrity chef Marc Murphy’s Benchmarc Restaurant group.

 

Gene joins GAM Hospitality LLC, management company as Corporate Director of Finance in 2018, where his experience and financial acumen will be an asset and benefit to the growing Hotel management and advisory portfolio of clients.
